The solar project will provide enough energy to meet approximately 50% of the campus demand, enabling it to save up to $5.4M in energy costs over 25 years

San Jacinto, CA

Mt San Jacinto College

Borrego Solar developed and built Mt San Jacinto College’s 1.1 megawatt solar project located on the northeast side of campus. Borrego Solar will be providing O&M services for the project as well.

The project has been funded using Measure AA bonds, passed by voters in 2014.

The solar project will provide enough energy to meet approximately 50% of the campus demand, enabling it to save up to $5.4 million in energy costs over 25 years. Additionally, the project will offset 1,690 metric tons of carbon offset annually, equivalent amount emitted from driving four million miles in a passenger car.

The solar installation utilizes NEXTracker tracker technology, meaning that that panels will move throughout the day to follow the sun and maximize energy production. The district celebrated the completion of the solar array in March 2017 with a Flip the Switch ceremony.

MSJC worked with the Community College League of California Solar Consulting Services Program for this project.
