Borrego Solar Hires VP of People & Culture
With more than 20 years of HR experience, Pellerin is excited to join Borrego’s team as VP of People & Culture.
“When many people think human resources, they think hiring and firing, or benefits and process,” Kerry Pellerin, Borrego’s new VP of People & Culture said. “While those are part of many different aspects of the function, there’s so much more to it. Human Resources starts with PEOPLE, which is what attracted me to Borrego. People and culture (P&C) is a key concept of business partnering, a term we use to talk about how we work hand-in-hand with the entire business, building the best culture possible while growing the business and our people. I envision strengthening this at Borrego while working side-by-side to meet our company’s mission and goals.”
Pellerin holds a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University, along with an SPHR and SHRM-SCP, both industry-recognized senior professional human resource certifications. She has experience in a variety of disciplines including recruiting, learning and development, benefits and compensation, business partnering and strategy development.
Rather than searching for her career path, Pellerin says it found her.
“Many of my family, friends and colleagues suggested I would be great at HR,” she says. “I wasn’t sure what profession I wanted to go into, but a colleague pushed me to my first position in human resources as a recruiter.”
Though she was often complimented on her work, Pellerin was unfulfilled. Then, a friend encouraged her to take on an HR generalist role with more variety in her responsibilities.
“This got me hooked,” she says. “We joke in HR that you never know who you’ll meet and what topics may come your way. Funny enough, this is what makes me excited to come to work each day.”
Pellerin loves that every day she gets the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, or in the way the company operates. Even small conversations can lead to something big, such as helping someone realize their career aspirations, find new connections with others, share new ideas and see new opportunities.
“Seeing relationships build and people discovering their full potential is truly inspiring,” she says.
Pellerin said the position at Borrego attracted her because of the company’s great culture, which puts people at the forefront of its mission and goals.
“Borrego’s strong belief to develop our people and P&C is what attracted me,” she says. “I believe the company’s P&C is at a unique crossroads and there’s a chance to make a huge impact in how we can grow our people and business. I was excited at the opportunity to jump in and be a part of something awesome, in which we can cultivate potential from within and throughout.”
